Getting started

Each program at Washburn University is responsible for assessing student learning on an annual basis. Assessment is focused on Program Student Learning Outcomes (PSLOs) that are written, and revised as necessary, by the program. The PSLOs should consider discipline-specific contexts, and may include any applicable accreditation standards. Annually, programs submit assessment materials that include PSLOs, curriculum map, assessment plan, and assessment findings to Taskstream AMS. These materials are reviewed by the Assessment Committee, and compared to rubrics. Each program is provided constructive feedback and a rubric score to assist with the continuous quality improvement of their program assessment plan and materials.
Program assessment materials are due every third year before August 31 according to the following 3-year cycle:

  • 2023-2024 - Creative Performing Arts (CAS), Interdisciplinary Studies (CAS), School of Nursing, School of Business, Leadership and Community Engagement ; Honors; using Taskstream, as usual
  • 2024-2025 - School of Applied Studies and Library/CSSR; using Planning & Self-Study software
  • 2025-2026 - Remaining College of Arts and Sciences divisions: HUM, NSM, and SS, MM/KN; using Planning & Self-Study software
