A Stage for Excellence

We are proud of our superb facilities which are among the finest in the midwest. White Concert Hall is considered to be one of the finest performing venues in the country, and, in addition to music department concerts, is home to the Topeka Symphony Orchestra, the Topeka Festival Singers, the world-renowned Sunflower Music Festival and countless university and civic events.

 

Garvey Fine Arts Center 

The Garvey Fine Arts Center is the epicenter for the arts in Topeka. The center is home to the Washburn University Department of Music & Theatre, Washburn University Art Department, and The Mulvane Arts Museum. The facility contain some of the finest performing venues in the country.  It is home to the Topeka Symphony Orchestra, the Sunflower Music Festival, and numerous university and civic events.

 

Elliot Hill White Concert Hall

White Concert Hall is the centerpiece of Washburn University’s Garvey Fine Arts Center. The 1200 seat concert hall is considered one of the finest acoustic halls in the country. It is the main performance venue for the Department of Music & Theatre, Topeka Symphony Orchestra, the Sunflower Music Festival, and countless civic events.

 

Music Technology Lab

The Music Technology Lab is equipped with 17 Yamaha full size electronic keyboards and Macintosh computers. The Yamaha group education controller along with headsets at each station, allows the instructor to communicate with individuals or groups during class. The large TV monitor connected to the instructors station can projects instructional materials for course efficiency. The lab serves as a multipurpose facility for group piano and music technology courses, and individual projects.

 

James Hurd Recital Hall

The James Hurd Recital Hall is the newest addition to the Garvey Fine Arts Center. The 180-seat recital is equipped with the latest technology and provides exceptional acoustics for chamber style performances. It’s unique design and versatility allows for a collection of musical settings, providing an up-close personal interaction between the audience and the performers.
