The Washburn Psychological Services Clinic provides low-cost therapy and assessment services for children, adolescents and families in the Topeka community.
What You Can Expect in an Assessment
- Assessment services are offered September through November for ages 6 through 17
- Services offered include ADHD assessments, intelligence/achievement testing, learning-disability testing and intellectual-disabilities testing
- Interview with the child and/or parent/guardians
- Questionnaires and informational forms to complete
- If indicated, asking the child to complete a variety of tasks
- At times, a request to interview the child’s teachers
- Feedback, recommendations and referrals
- Approximately $120 assessment fee (cost varies depending on assessments)
- Caring graduate-student therapists under the direct supervision of licensed doctoral-level Washburn faculty
What You Can Expect in Therapy
- Therapy services are offered February through May for ages 4 through 17
- Therapy may address anxiety, depression and behavioral problems. (If you have a concern that is not listed, please contact us.)
- Cognitive and/or behavioral therapy
- Parent/guardian involvement (sometimes including parent sessions)
- A one-hour, $10 session each week
- Caring graduate-student therapists under the direct supervision of licensed doctoral-level Washburn faculty
