Texas law SB 1534 excludes from regulation in Texas any career school or college institution that is: (1) an out-of-state accredited degree-granting institution, (2) duly regulated in another state, and (3) only offers distance education in Texas. Therefore, pursuant to SB 1534, please be advised that:

  • Washburn University School of Nursing is not regulated in Texas under Chapter 132 of the Texas Education Code;
  • Washburn University School of Nursing is physically located in the State of Kansas and is regulated by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and is nationally accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

CCNE

The CCNE Board considers formal requests for implementation of the complaint process provided that the complainant: a) illustrates the full nature of the complaint in writing, describing how CCNE standards or procedures have been violated, and b) indicates his/her willingness to allow CCNE to notify the program and the parent institution of the exact nature of the complaint, including the identity of the originator of the complaint. The Board may take whatever action it deems appropriate regarding verbal complaints, complaints that are submitted anonymously, or complaints in which the complainant has not given consent to being identified. Complaints may be directed to the “CCNE Complaints Administrator” and sent to the CCNE office at: One Dupont Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washington, DC 20036.
