All Aleshire Center for Leadership and Community Engagement students are eligible for scholarships.

The Aleshire Center has committed to creating a structured learning environment that fosters and encourages student leadership development and community engagement.

Application materials are made available in October for the following fall.

Direct from high school and transfer students coming to Washburn University are invited to complete the incoming student application. These are competitive scholarships suitable for students who exhibit leadership initiative and/or seek additional community engagement developmental opportunities during their college years. Most scholarships start at $1,250.

Eligibility criteria

  • 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale for high school students
  • Cumulative 2.75 GPA for transfer students

Requirements

  • Attending Washburn University full time (at least 12 hours per semester).
  • Maintaining at least a 2.75 cumulative GPA.
  • Achieving satisfactory annual progress toward earning a Leadership Studies or Community Studies minor or certificate as indicated in the Satisfactory Annual Progress section.
  • Participating in one of the core co-curricular programs, Leaders of Tomorrow or Bonner Leaders.
