Vision
Create and foster an inclusive campus community that respects and embraces our intersectional identities.
Pillars and Focus
Intersectional Education and Social Justice
The Intersection hosts student programs and opportunities for students to have dialogue and engage in self-exploration of their own and others' intersectional identifies. The Intersection also hosts opportunities for students to engage in on and off campus social justice advocacy and community engagement.
Purposeful Coalitions and Leadership
The Intersection hosts student-centered programs and activities that allow students the opportunity to engage in coalition building with student government, fraternities and sororities and student programming leaders. The Intersection is an important space for meetings, discussion and the sharing of ideas for creating a more inclusive community.
Reflection, Support and Sense of Community
The Intersection serves as a welcoming gathering space for historically marginalized students to engaging in mentoring, leadership, social, and emotional support activities that assist in their academic success and retention towards graduation.
Mission
The Washburn Multicultural Intersectional Learning Space, The Intersection, will provide student-centered support for students identified as historically marginalized.
