
Application guidelines
- Complete a Program Application (inside of the program application you will apply for a scholarship).
- The Application is due the semester prior to studying abroad. Deadlines vary, in general Fall/ Summer due 3/1, Spring/Winter 10/15.
- Students may only apply to one program per academic term. If you would like to change programs during the application process, please email: studyabroad@washburn.edu.

How to apply
- Find your program
- Click the Apply Now button.
- Login using your Washburn email address and password.
- Answer any questions presented to you to complete your profile, if applicable.
- Complete the Advising Questionnaire, if applicable.
- Attend an Advising Session.
- Once you determine the program you will participate in you will complete a program application.
- When you have completed all the application requirements, click the Submit Application button.
- Congratulations! You have completed the first of phases in your Study Abroad Application.
Four Phases of the Study Abroad Application Process:

Pre-Decision Phase (begins when you apply and continues until the apply deadline)
During this phase, you will complete the initial Traveler Application and pre-decision phase forms. You must submit all forms by the stated application deadline to guarantee that your application will be considered.
Below is a list of typical forms that are included in the pre-decision phase of the Traveler Application. Forms vary by program type, (*indicates program specific forms, generally not applicable to Faculty-led Programs).
- Scholarship Application
- Passport Reimbursement Application
- Estimated Program Budget Planning Form*
- Statement of Purpose
- Faculty Recommendation / Advisor Endorsement (these will be requested by you and submitted online by the faculty/advisor)
- FERPA release
- International Education Washburn Transformational Experience Pre-Departure Requirements (for IE-WTE Scholarship applicants only)
- Travel health consultation
- Disability resources
- WU study abroad insurance
- Use of student work/s
- Consent & Conduct Agreement

Post-Decision Phase (begins after deadline and continues until the program start date)
All students with approved applications will complete additional program specific questionnaires and material submissions before departing on the program. The forms will be viewable as soon as the application is reviewed, approved and moved into the “Committed” status.
